Canvas LTI 1.3 Integration
Peer evaluation that lives inside Canvas
CoStudy connects to Canvas via LTI 1.3 so students never leave their LMS. One-click roster import, SSO authentication, and automatic grade passback — no IT headaches.
Currently in beta — CoStudy's Canvas integration is being piloted at Indiana University. Full launch planned for fall 2026.
What the integration does
Everything professors need to run peer evaluations without leaving Canvas.
Import your Canvas roster and group assignments automatically. No CSV uploads, no manual entry. Click once and your course is ready.
Students authenticate with their existing Canvas credentials. No separate CoStudy account, no new password, no app download.
CoStudy mirrors your Canvas group sets. Update groups in Canvas and sync the changes to CoStudy with one click.
Push evaluation completion scores back to your Canvas gradebook automatically, or export detailed data as CSV for manual grade adjustments.
How setup works
Your Canvas admin approves CoStudy
A one-time LTI 1.3 app installation that takes about 5 minutes. CoStudy is listed in the Canvas app catalog.
Connect your course
In CoStudy, click "Import from Canvas" to pull your roster, groups, and course details automatically.
Students access through Canvas
Students receive an email notification and complete evaluations through Canvas. No new tools to learn, no separate login.
Why Canvas-native matters
Most peer evaluation tools live outside the LMS. Students need a separate account, a separate login, and a separate URL. That friction kills completion rates.
CoStudy's Canvas integration eliminates all of it. Students access evaluations from within Canvas using their existing credentials. No new tools to learn. No passwords to remember. Completion rates at our IU pilot consistently exceed 95%.
- Students never leave Canvas
- No separate student accounts or fees
- FERPA-compliant data handling
- Works with your existing Canvas groups
- 5-minute IT setup for your Canvas admin
